Keywords that Have over a Million Views per Month

Do Cars Come Before Sex?

(Release November 2008) … As a journalist that specializes in ‘Internet Marketing’ I discovered a site that was offering a 2,500 keyword list of the ‘Top Searched Words on The Internet’. At first glance I couldn’t decide whether this was desperation or a very astute piece of business marketing. I applied my usual and trusted formula to determine its merits.

Was it unique? Well I had say both yes and no… No it wasn’t unique as you could get this information for free off the internet. Yet at the same time… Yes it was! You can get 10 or 15 items with a quick search for free, but to compile a list of 2,500 made it unique.

My second question within my formula was, “Did it have value?” To anybody who didn’t have a business or an intended business on the internet the facts within it are useless. To those who are the opposite, who depend on earning a living off the internet this list, is more of an asset than just a ‘list’. Any word that is typed into the search engine query box is what most business people want access to. This 2,500 list is all those searches that have over a million views per month.

My third question, “Was it information people needed?” People would find it interesting, businesses would find it invaluable. A list of 50 would be useful, but you’d have little information to compare it with. This list is 2,500+, which is more than enough to contemplate for years.

My final consideration was, “Has this list a time limit?” Well again, yes and no. Yes because about 5% of the words involved included celebrities, which can be either in favour or out depending on their pranks. The other keywords that may run out of date are the company names and product names that have their lifespan as long as the ‘fad’ lasts. The remaining 95% will remain constant, so the list I had to admit will not have a time limit.

This list was coming out on top with my usual formula. So with an excitement I chose to talk to the website owner and see why this list was produced…

I asked the CEO about his web page - Top Searched Keywords on the Internet - Andy Bolton said, “Week in and week out I was having to explore keywords to determine my next theme in business. So in actual fact I was preparing this list for my own personal use, but when I’d taken a month to compile it I realized its true potential and value. I know the facts within this list are available for free, but unless you have 5 free days at 10 hours per day spare to compile it, you’ll not come close as it is both tedious and time consuming.”

When you see the top segment of the most viewed keywords you will be both amazed and surprised, as I was. Cars come before sex; lyrics come before marketing, shoes come before dating and hotels come before Google or Yahoo. Lower down the list we see other interesting anomalies – bmw before free downloads, British before baseball, antivirus before online games and court before cancer.

I considered further the lists’ merits… Although I’m not a business person, I’m only just a journalist, I can see why an entrepreneur would enjoy this list to help develop strategies for future promotions. There are nine eventual downloads, some of which are the same list presented in different ways; but more important is the original excel file available for download as well, which is adjustable by columns and items can be deleted and added.

So my final analysis of this Keyword List – is it a desperation measure for an internet business or is it actually a very clever tool? I have no doubt that it is a very clever tool and will a good investment for the astute business person.

Adsense and Keywords

I need to start with an analogy to explain the importance of keywords. Your selection of keywords is the ‘heart of your business’ as far as adsense income is determined. The heart, yes the most important organ of your body, not your leg or your wrist, but your heart. If your heart is failing, putting a bandage on your wrist isn’t going to work.

So here is the crunch… If your adsense income has dropped or you need to build an adsense business, then look after your heart. It is the life blood of the system, it pumps the money into your adsense account.

It has taken a few hard lessons for me to understand this principle. This is how I felt the pump, pump, pump send a light bulb moment to my brain. It started when the town I live in lost the internet connection. Phew… I’m sure that everyone has lost a connection for as little as ten minutes and thought their world had ended. But I lost the internet connection for three days. I got on with other stuff as you do, but what I did do is re-read some of the books I had purchased.

Of course, years on from getting more knowledge, to re-read an ebook generally is boring; and most of it was, but I kept stumbling, pausing and contemplating on the keyword section of the ebooks. If keywords are the heart of a business you need to dedicate more time and effort to keep them healthy.

If you are starting out, use the system below. If you already have adsense websites and the income has dropped, you need to be aware that trends change and the keyword you chose a year ago may not be the major one being searched for today. Go through this procedure and add another 250 pages.

We all use the keyword tools available and knock up a 5,000 keyword list in half an hour, spend another hour sifting through and choosing our prime keywords. That’s it we’re done. But… would you take an hour and a half to mould and create a heart and expect to live beyond a few months?

Once your website is up and running, I would guess you must spend 2 or 3 hours a day trying to get traffic to your website. This effort could be a little wasted if your keyword choice is hurried.

Here is the best way to choose keywords to maximize your search engine positions. Let’s assume that you need 250 keywords. Up to 50 of those should be first tier. These should include all the main associated keywords and most important should be ‘high’ paying keywords too. These you can check through either the free Google Keyword Tool or through varying software keyword tools.

These first 50 keywords will be the fiercely competed words and as a consequence you’ll not rank very high for them initially. Yet long term, the optimization, the blogs, social networking and bookmarking should help rise those 50 web pages nearer the top of the search rankings.

The other 200 keywords you choose will be ‘long tail keywords’. You may start with a 1,000 to sift through to finish up with 200. First you need to check each keyword separately. Allocate a day to do this, because the effort you put in now will serve you well. The purpose of checking as I’m going to mention is so that you get onto the front page of Google as soon as the search engines crawl your deep inside pages.

The first thing to check is if that long tail keyword gets traffic each month. Between 50 to 500 hits per month is fine for long tail keywords. Above those hits per month and you’ll probably find that too many other websites are competing for that keyword. Below that amount and you may find the quantity of hits vary from a few hits a month to zero hits.

Once you have a selection that meet the first criteria, then you need to check the competing sites. Is there 2,000 or is there 8? To do this you need to put this search query into Google – inurl:my-keywords – replacing my-keywords with your own of course. Use both variations, with dashes separating the words and without dashes. Make a note of the total of competing websites. Once you gone through them all you can make a decision on which keywords are going to get you on the front page of Google.

Even if your web page isn’t optimized too well, if there are only 8 competing websites, you’ll appear on the front page. This will mean a steady but small flow of traffic 50 to 500 hits per month. Multiply that by the sites with long tail keywords and the minimum you could expect, once the search engines have listed the inner pages, is 200 x 50 = 10,000.

There are also other options to consider if you are adding web pages slowly. Use in the Google search box “allintitle: and allinanchor: keyword”. Extra work, but will pay off in the long run.

A reasonable time limit to expect all 250 pages listed in Google, so long as you’ve done the necessary blogging or bookmarking, should be 4 to 6 weeks; it can be done quicker but more work is involved.

Don’t just rely on Google, you’ll need to submit your site to other major engines as well. Plus if you are by chance one of eight on that first Google page, you’ll need to make sure that your description tag is better than all the other tags on that Google page, as they often use that tag to display to content of the site.

10,000 possible hits per month within the first 10 weeks, not bad for a beginner… Realistically if you shared that with the other sites, you may only get 2,000 visitors enter your site per month, but that is still good. Of course… the visitor who clicks your web site link is relatively targeted by this stage and your conversion rate for clicking on adsense ads could be between 10 to 20%. 10% of 2,000 clicks is 200, which could be worth $50 to $200. The day’s work you spent on sifting these keywords has paid for itself. Then you can expect more of the same the following month. As many adsense professionals have 5 to 20 websites, multiply the expected earning by the websites and suddenly you can see the potential, and I may add this is before you start trying to get traffic. Glory days… if you get the job done right.

Adsense Help

I’m pretty sure that we all can make this claim – “I know quite a lot about Adsense”. This of course will be true in a certain context. For example when you are talking to an outsider, someone who doesn’t apply adsense to his or her website, then yes, you will know quite a lot about adsense. But on a level playing field sat next to another adsense fanatic, could you make the same claim?

Quote: “He, who claims he knows, knows nothing. He, who claims nothing, knows.” Socrates.

Not trying to shoot anybody down in flames, I’m sure we’d all love to discover more and more Adsense tips and tricks day after day. Constant research is the key.

I once listened intently to a business philosopher who suggested that if you don’t allocate time each day to explore the potential of your business, you will go stale. For me, as I understood that principle, I looked at my working day and thought how can I cram another hour into my day for research and study?

It became clear that during any day there is a moment when you start making typo errors. A part of the day when you feel lethargic, and you look at the screen for a few moments and wonder where you are, and which minimize screen are you meant to be working from. Ever been there? Well… This is the ideal time to rest your mind and take an hour ‘out’ from intense routine and explore the internet.

Understanding Adsense further is your prime objective. It won’t be too intense, just a few quick paragraphs here and there. Most of the time you’ll read stuff you already know, but just occasionally you’ll pick up a golden nugget.

For me… A golden nugget is something that sets the mind racing. You perhaps half knew of the concept, but another slant on the explanation and it triggers a whole new thought pattern within your mind.

Sometimes, and I say ‘me’ again, sometimes for me I ignore the well known obvious tips because they sound boring and methodical. But when I see that extra ‘add-on’ tip to improve that obvious path, the whole scenario excites me, I stop slouching in my computer chair and sit up.

So all the Adsense Help you need is within you. Always allocate time to invest in your own business by researching your subject. I hope you take this advice and use it.

AdSense Generates Sizable Source of Income
By Ronald Firquain

Most webmasters know that AdSense generates a sizable source of additional advertising income. That is why most of them use it to go after high paying keywords. They have with them the lists that tells what the keywords are and have already used various methods of identifying them. And yet, after putting up these supposed to be high paying keywords into their pages, the money they expected to come rolling in is not really coming in.

What is it that they are doing wrong?

Having the pages is with the proper keywords is one thing. But driving visitors to those pages is another matter and often the factor that is lacking.

The thing is, to get visitors to your high paying keyword pages, you need to optimize your site navigation.

AdSense is considered as one of the most powerful tool in a website publishers arsenal. It enables a person to monetize their sites easily. If used properly, it can generate a very large and healthy income for them. However if you are not using them rightly and just maximizing the income you squeeze from it, you are actually leaving a lot of money on the table. Something all people hate doing.

How you can start earning money with AdSense can be done easily and quickly. You will be amazed at the results you will be getting in such a short period of time.

Start by writing some quality content articles which are also keyword incorporated. There are a lot of people given the gift of being good with words. Writing comes easy for them. Why not make it work in such a way that you will be earning some extra cash in the process.

For the last couple of months, Google ads has dominated forums, discussions and newsletters all over the Internet. Already, there are tales of fabulous riches to be made and millions made by those who are just working from home. It seems that Google AdSense have already dominated the Internet marketing business and is now considered the easiest way to making money online.

The key to success is the placing of ads on pages that are receiving high traffic for high demand keywords. The higher the cost per click to the advertiser, the more you will receive per click from your site. Obviously, it does not pay to target low cost per click keywords and place them on pages that do not receive hits.

With all the people getting the computer and clicking away everyday, it is no wonder why it has become an instant hit.

By earning some few dollars per click from displaying AdSense ads on it. Many are now realizing that good money is made from this source of revenue. Try the simple mathematical computation of multiplying those clicks for every page on your website and you get a summation of earnings equivalent to a monthly residual income with that little effort you have made.

This is a fast and easy way for website publishers of all sizes to display relevant and text based Google ads on their websites content pages and earn money in the process. The ads displayed are related to what your users are looking for on your site. This is the main reason why you both can monetize and enhance your content pages using AdSense.

How much you will be earning will depend on how much the advertisers are willing to pay. It will depend also on the keywords required. If the keywords the advertiser have chosen are in high demand, you could receive more dollars per click. On the other hand, low demand keywords will earn you just a few cents per click.

The Google Trail

Abhinav Ramnarayan

Google has various strategies advertisers and individuals can use to make money.

It isn't just the big players who are benefiting from Google AdWords and AdSense. A whole network has arisen, including advertisers ranging from SMEs to MNCs, hosts from large publishing portals to individual bloggers, and, of course, the 50 million Internet users in the country.

A BLOG GOOGLE RUNS ADS on, which makes money for the blogger. - Bijoy Ghosh

Try typing `jobs' on Google search, and you might be in for a surprise — on the sponsored links column, one of the ads is by competitor Yahoo!

That is probably why Murugavel Janakiraman, Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Bharatmatrimony.com, comfortably maintains relations with both companies — Yahoo is an investor in his portal, while the other provides advertising space for the matchmaker.

However, it isn't just the big players who are benefiting from Google AdWords and AdSense. A whole network has arisen, which includes advertisers from SMEs to MNCs, hosts from large publishing portals to individual bloggers, and, of course, the 50 million Internet users in the country. According to a comScore Media Matrix 2005 report, about 80 per cent of Internet users access Google.com.

K. Sundararaman, Acting Sales Head, Google India, sheds some light on how this network works. He says that apart from the ads that appear on www.google.com, there is Google AdSense, which allows individual Web sites to rent out the space on the page.

These Web sites, Sundararaman explains, are selected through `site targeting' that "allows advertisers to choose individual Web sites within the Google content network where they would like their ads to appear ... allowing advertisers to handpick the audience they want to reach."

Managing ad campaigns

Apart from this, the advertiser can specify search-targeted keywords for categories such as broad matches, phrase matches, exact matches or negative matches. This keyword matching system is completely automated. "We suggest using a combination of two or more of these techniques to run an effective ad campaign," he says.

Which in turn means that managing an effective ad campaign with Google AdWords is not quite such a simple project. For example, Bharatmatrimony.com has a three-member internal team that continually reviews the conversion rate of the number of people that click on their ads in other Web sites, the cost of advertising on Google and the relevance of the keywords that the company has submitted, says Janakiraman.

As large clients, they work in conjunction with a team from Google that has been assigned to work with them. The company has bought about 30,000 keywords.

Keywords matter

Similarly, eBay has an internal team that works full-time on the paid search programme with the Google account team, according to Rathin Lahiri, Head - Marketing, eBay India. This is possibly because "paid search is one of the better performing channels and the search customer is an evolved customer," he says.

The revenue model for the Web site is that advertisers pay for the click or impression that they receive.

For ads priced at cost-per-thousand-clicks, an advertiser may pay as low as Rs 10 per thousand, and for cost-per-click priced ads, it may be as low as Re 0.44 per click, according to the company.

The rate of keywords varies, says Lahiri. For example, the keyword `Nokia' would be more valuable than a keyword such as `pencil' — at the end of the day, the rate that eBay pays is a function of the click-through-rate and the cost-per-click. The keyword `Nokia phone' is more valuable than `Nokia blue tooth device' and therefore has a better click-through-rate.

Users big and small

This has opened up a whole market through the AdSense route. And since the tool caters to publishers of all sizes, the company has both large publishers that have content on the Internet such as Sify.com, NDTV.com, and Moneycontrol.com, as well as individual Web site owners.

Deepesh Agarwal, who runs a Web site that provides freeware solutions, receives on an average 4,000-odd daily ad impressions and earns anywhere from $800 to $2,100 per month depending on the amount of traffic and its `quality.'

He has been using the service for three years. Though the first two years didn't yield many results, but the last year has been a good one. In fact, though the Web site was never intended as a money-spinner, it now constitutes the biggest portion of Agarwal's revenue.

Success story

"My traffic is primarily from the US and Canada — about 60 per cent — and the visitors are common computer users looking for free alternatives for paid shareware applications meant for day-to-day computer maintenance tasks," he explains.

But it doesn't even have to get that technical to be a success. Jamshed Velayuda Rajan, a Usability Consultant with Satyam Computers, maintains two Web sites — one in which he writes about himself and his family, and another blog on cricket.

The latter, he expects, will have traffic of about 2,500 to 3,500 people when cricket matches are going on.

Typically, 350 unique people per day, and about 450 to 500 clicks is the count for his two portals combined.

As for the remuneration, he explains, "High value keywords would earn more — if I had a finance blog, for example, I could make as much as $4 for one click.

Since cricket is not a money-spinner in that sense, perhaps between 10 and 30 cents per click." All in all, he has made about Rs 30,000 in the last two years.

Not bad for a man who was looking to have a bit of fun by writing about his life and his family.

Google Adsense Advice

If you’ve watched the progress of Google Adsense over the past few years you will know its potential has decreased and subsequently the revenue decrease too. So why would that be?

Google have tweaked their algorithm, and as such it has reduced the remarkable payouts we may have seen and read about. Rather than try to identify the exact reasons, it is widely accepted that people who abused the system caused Google to adjust their methods to quash such abuse.

We may have seen MFA’s, websites specifically ‘Made for Google Adsense’. As such these sites DID make big money, but offered little or no content. Such attempts to ‘work’ the system would only have a short life span until the BIG G saw such a loophole and consequently shut it down. Although these sites still exist, they have been de-listed from the Google Search Engine. If you didn’t know already, type – site:www.

awebsitename.com – into Google Search and it will show the pages that Google have listed in their engine.

Google has tried to steer each and every website owner towards adding quality content. Without quality content your site is only visited for seconds. It is this very aspect that Google uses to determine the quality of sites. If someone is only on your site for seconds it deems the quality as low; if they stay on for more than 30 seconds you’re beginning to get recognition.

So to earn a living from Adsense is much harder today, than it has ever been. If you are solely intent on relying on Google Adsense as your only income from the outset, it maybe a deemed as a mistake, unless you follow some sound business principles and get advice from an expert.

What a lot of individuals are doing is realizing that they have tremendous sites, and Google Adsense isn’t bringing in enough money to generate their weekly income. As a consequence they have looked at earning revenue from other sources. Affiliate income is an option for consideration.

Alternatively, rather than give up on Adsense try generating more traffic. If you get a steady flow of visitors to your site already you may want to consider one option that will serve two purposes. This option is to write a short article, nothing too in-depth that takes weeks, let’s say an article that’s heading starts - 101 Ways To… - such as 101 Ways to Treat Acne. The process make take 2 to 3 hours. Prepare this document as a ‘pdf’ file and make it downloadable from your site for free.

In doing this, collect an email address for those wanting this amazing list, and using this list to generate further income from, and within the ‘pdf’ put backlinks to your site. This method is called viral marketing. As visitors pass the file to others, or pass the download link, more people will use the links within the ‘pdf’ to get back to your site.

I hope this article gives you much needed inspiration to inject more enthusiasm into your Adsense activity.

Success Story

Lighting Direct cuts costs and triples Clickthrough Rate (CTR) with Google Analytics

Founded in 1991, Lighting Direct is regarded as the number one online lighting company in the UK. With over 6000 products on the company's website, Lighting Direct has established itself as a one-stop-shop for everything from the grandest chandeliers to novelty Christmas lights. The company also prides itself on providing value-for-money and helpful information that caters to both indoor and outdoor lighting.

The challenges facing Lighting Direct have been in constant flux as the company transformed from an Internet new-comer to an online leader in its field. As late as 2002, the company had just three staff, of which only one was full-time. The man at the helm was Gary Berg, "I put together a little website with about 200 products on it. Then we started getting a bit of interest and I started looking for ways of how I could let people know I was there...we really just wanted to drive traffic to our site. I found AdWords was the best way of doing that."

As an Internet newcomer, Lighting Direct had shown that they could use Google AdWords to drive traffic to their website and build their company. However, with business growing rapidly, Berg soon decided that to scale Lighting Direct efficiently and to make sure that all keywords were profitable, emphasis needed to shift from simply driving traffic and brand awareness to also creating conversions and increasing return-on-investment. To make the advertising better pay for itself and to better track user behaviour, Berg turned to the free tool Google Analytics to help him adapt his advertising. The results were dramatic. The highly targeted ad texts and keywords resulted in many campaign clickthrough rates sky-rocketing to 20%–30%. It was not unusual for campaigns to see their clickthrough rate triple in the period after the review.

On the changes made, Berg says, "I was able to take out quite a few keywords and make the campaigns leaner. There has definitely been an increase in business since using Analytics." This latest advertising drive is just one such initiative taken in a highly successful relationship between Lighting Direct and Google AdWords. As the company has grown they have found different tools and techniques available through AdWords. "When we first started with this exercise we had two part-time people and now we employ ten people. We are now doing about seven or eight times the turnover compared to four years ago thanks to AdWords and Analytics."

5 Articles to Help with Adsense

Google Adwords Software

Is Google Adwords still a profitable exercise?

If you can’t make it work you will be lacking two important strategies. The first of those strategies is finding a niche, this in itself is a difficult exercise. You may find searching for a niche could take weeks and weeks of research. But there is an answer.

Go now to read more:

Google Goggles

The basic principle behind finding a niche is to track the keywords for a subject and see how much competition there is. A more time served professional of Google Adwords may not need such a specific requirement as they are able to defeat many other advertisers and rank higher; not necessarily by just bidding higher.

However for a beginner, the lack of competition is an important requirement to ease the burden of succeeding. Of course what Adwords can achieve is that you rank at the top of page one on Google, albeit on the right hand side. Such positioning can receive anything from 5 – 500 clicks a day. Some webmaster work years to get their website into the top 10 of Google and the Adwords system gets you there in 5 minutes.

Ideally if you are starting out you need to progress slowly until you understand the procedure and what to do when you start earning money for the first time. Getting clicks off Google is a relatively easy target to reach, it is what you do with them that counts.

If you do not have a good ‘sales page’, then people will be visiting your site and clicking the back button before you know it…

The second factor…

If you do not manage to get above 0.50% for your ‘click-through-rate’; then you will get the infamous ‘Google Slap’. This is where your cheap advertising costs of say $0.16 per click, suddenly is increased to a minimum bid of $4.00 or $10. Your campaign is temporarily paused until you increase your bid. Meaning of course your campaign has effectively ended.

Some may well have noticed that the Google Slap occurs even before a campaign has gone active. This is down to the Google algorithm and their quality score for your intended landing page. As you proceed through setting up an adwords campaign you will have noticed they send their bot crawling to rate your landing page to determine its quality.

Google need to pre-qualify your page to maintain a high standard of quality and keep both their etiquette and respect intact. They cannot have shoddy advertisers selling scam ideas or half baked individuals trying to earn mega bucks from some lame business concept. This improves the likelihood that Google will get respectable advertisers spending millions.

Although this strategy may sound too difficult for many, there is software on the market that can help with all this detail. Google Goggles being the main contender.

If you have a budget to buy software that helps your business plan proceed faster and also keeps Google at bay and earn you respect as an advertiser. Then Google Goggles is the ideal candidate. Its main functions, is to help you find undiscovered niches, and keep down the cost per click by suggesting improvements to your web sales page to give you a good Google quality score. Give it a test drive.

How to Play by the Rules with Adsense

When you've worked 8 hours typing content for your sites, you have a strong inclination to find shorter cuts. It is this temptation you must overcome. When you take shortcuts the benefits are only short term, and once they are discovered the shortcut ends without warning.

Playing by the rules allows two major advantages. First and foremost Google will not come and penalise your sites and second the visitor get better value on his visit to your sites.

How Adsense and Affiliate Income Can Work Together

Every website has various possibilities to earn income for the owner of the site. Two of the most popular are Adsense and affiliate income.

As you know Adsense is Google Advertising upon your website; and affilliate income is where you take a commission for selling someone else's product. If you have a website selling carpets, you should be able to develop an income as an affiliate selling 'carpet tack'.

You can of course advertise anything you want on your website, but items that are specifically linked to the reason the visitor arrived at your site will sell much better

Google AdSense Tips
by: Wazir Singh

Google AdSense program is a popular web advertising program which provides a good income source for many websites. There are well defined terms of service to strictly adhere to when participating in the program.

On my visit through sites and forums, I daily notice several instances of misuse of AdSense ads. So here a few helpful Google AdSense tips, probably many you already know, and few you might gain by knowing now. These AdSense faq are all picked from the Program Policies, Terms and Conditions and FAQ itself and presented in a simplified manner.

1. Never click your own AdSense ads or get them clicked for whatever reason. You know this one very well. This is a surefire way to close you AdSense account. Never tell your office associates or friends to click on them. Keep a check if your family or children are busy increasing your income by clicking your ads and indirectly trying to stop your income. Don't even think of offering incentives for clicks, using automated clicking tools, or other deceptive software. AdSense is very smart to detect fraudulent clicks. Check the ads which appear on your pages by the Google Preview tool if required.

2. Never change the AdSense code. There are enough means of AdSense optimization & customizations available to change the colour, background or border to suit your needs. Do whatever you want to do outside the code, never fiddle within the ad or the search code. They know it when you do. The search code has more limitations to colour and placement, but you should adhere to the rules. The code may stop working and violates the TOS.

3. Do not place more than 3 ad units and 3 ad links or 2 AdSense search boxes on any web page. Anyway, ads will not appear in those units even if you place more ad units. But this is the limit they set, so it is better to stick to it.

4. Do not run competitive contextual text ad or search services on the same site which offer Google AdSense competition in their field. Never try to create link structures resembling the AdSense ads. Never use other competitive search tools on the same pages which have AdSense powered Google search. They do allow affiliate or limited-text links. Update: Google has allowed you to run contextual advertising like Yahoo ads, Chitika etc provided the ads do not resemble AdSense ads.

5. Do not disclose confidential information about your account like the CTR, CPM and income derived via individual ad units or any other confidential information they may reveal to you. However, you may reveal the total money you make as per recent updates to the TOS.

6. Label headings as "sponsored links" or "advertisements" only. Other labels are not allowed. I have seen many sites label ads with other titles. Dont make your site a target in a few seconds gaze.

7. Never launch a New Page for clicked ads by default. AdSense ads should open on the same page. You may be using a base target tag to open all links in a new window or frame by default. Correct it now as they do not want new pages opening from clicked ads.

8. One Account suffices for multiple websites. You do not need to create 5 accounts for 5 different websites. One account will do. If you live in the fears that if one account is closed down for violation of TOS, believe me they will close all accounts when they find out. You can keep track of clicks by using channels with real time statistics. They will automatically detect the new site and display relevant ads.

9. Place ads only on Content Pages. Advertisers pay only for content based ads. Content drives relevant ads. Although you might manage some clicks from error, login, registration, "thank you" or welcome pages, parking pages or pop ups, it will get you out of the program.

10. Do not mask ad elements. Alteration of colours and border is a facility to blend or contrast ads as per your site requirements. I have seen many sites where the url part is of the same colour as the background. While blending the ad with your site is a good idea, hiding relevant components of the ads is not allowed. Also do not block the visibility of ads by overlapping images, pop ups, tables etc.

11. Do not send your ads by email. Html formatted emails look good and allow placement of these javascript ads. But it is not allowed as per TOS. You do not want impressions registering on their logs from any email even once. They are watching!

12. Keep track of your content. So AdSense is not allowed on several non content pages. But it is also not allowed on several content pages too. Do not add it on web pages with MP3, Video, News Groups, and Image Results. Also exclude any pornographic, hate-related, violent, or illegal content.

13. Do not alter the results after ad clicks or searches - Ensure you are not in any way altering the site which the user reaches to after clicking the ads. Do not frame, minimize, remove, redirect or otherwise inhibit the full and complete display of any Advertiser Page or Search Results Page after the user clicks on any Ad or Search results.

14. Avoid excessive advertising and keyword stuffing - Although the definition of 'excessive' is a gray area and is subject to discretion, yet Google AdSense with correct placement, focused content and high traffic will get you much more income than other programs, so excessive advertising is not required. Keyword stuffing does target better focused ads, but overdoing it is not required.

15. Ensure you Language is Supported - AdSense supports "Chinese (simplified), Japanese, Danish, Korean, Dutch, Norwegian, English, Polish, Finnish, Portuguese, French, Russian, German, Spanish, Hungarian, Swedish, Italian and Turkish. In addition, AdSense for search is available in Czech, Slovak, and Traditional Chinese. If your web pages language is not supported, do not use the code on such pages.

16. Maximum 2 referral button per product per page - With the launch of the Google AdSense referral program, you are allowed to put only 2 referral buttons for AdSense referral, AdWords referral, Google pack and Firefox with Google toolbar referral.

17. Do not specify Google ads as your alternate ads. - Several services like Chitika eminimalls allow you to place alternate urls, when a targeted paying ad cannot be displayed. This involved creating an simple html page and putting the ad to be displayed instead. Even AdSense allows an alternate url feature instead of displaying public service ads. But never use AdSense ads as alternate urls.

18. Do not confuse with adjacent images - It was a common policy to increase CTR by placing same number of images as the number of text ads, which falsely gave the impression that the text ads represented an explanation to these images. Inserting a small space or a line between the images and ads is not allowed. Make sure that the ads and images are not arranged in a way that could easily mislead or confuse your visitors.
